PageShift Privacy Policy

      The short version: PageShift stores all data locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information.
    

What PageShift Does

PageShift is a Chrome extension that lets you monitor elements on web pages and get notified when content changes. You select elements to watch, and the extension periodically checks if those elements have changed.

Data We Collect

None. PageShift does not collect any personal data, browsing history, usage analytics, or telemetry. We have no servers, no databases, and no tracking.

Data Stored Locally

PageShift stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API:

Monitored elements: The CSS selectors and content snapshots of elements you choose to watch
Page URLs: The URLs of pages where you've set up monitors
Settings: Your preferences (check interval, notification settings)
Change history: A log of detected changes for your reference

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to any server.

Permissions Explained

PageShift requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage: To save your monitors and settings locally
alarms: To schedule periodic checks for changes
notifications: To alert you when monitored content changes
tabs: To access the current tab for element selection
activeTab: To interact with the page you're currently viewing
scripting: To inject the element picker into web pages
host_permissions (all URLs): To monitor elements on any website you choose

Third-Party Services

PageShift does not use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking tools. There are no cookies, no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, nothing.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with anyone. There is no data to share because we don't collect any.

Children's Privacy

PageShift does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The extension does not collect information from anyone of any age.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how PageShift handles data (for example, if we add optional cloud sync in a future version), we will update this privacy policy and notify users through the Chrome Web Store listing.
